The second largest canary island of Fuerteventura sits just 70 miles from the North African coast and shares the same latitude (and therefore weather conditions) with the renowned holiday destinations of Florida and Mexico. With over 150 sandy beaches you'll always have room to do your own thing. The main resorts of Caleta de Fuste, Corralejo, Costa Calma and Jandia all offer an array of seaside facilities including bars, cafes, restaurants and the beach offers all the usual amenities plus some great windsurfing schools.


Shopping opportunities in Fuerteventura are plentiful and range from local markets and handicrafts, to large shopping centers containing many popular fashion boutiques. Fuerteventura's markets are often the best places to find genuine bargains and inexpensive shopping, with many markets in Fuerteventura offering a good selection of gift ideas, together with tasty produce, hot snacks and local specialities. Shopping in Fuerteventura begins from any time between 09:00 to 10:00, Monday to Saturday, with the majority of shops closing during the hot afternoon for a traditional Spanish siesta.


Amongst the most popular festivals in Fuerteventura, both the February carnivals and Easter Holy Week celebrations are known for their colourful parades. Other popular festivals and events in Fuerteventura include the Corpus Christi festivities and Fuerteventura Music Festival each June, the International Jazz Festival in July, and Fuerteventura's International Kite Festival in November - which lasts for three days and attracts large crowds.

Head to the beach

The delightful island of Fuerteventura has over 150 sandy beaches, ranging from large popular beaches where numerous water sports are available, including windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing and boating, to small secluded beaches where visitors can just relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Fuerteventura is also very popular with naturists, with the long stretches of quiet sandy beaches making Fuerteventura the perfect location for an all-over tan.

Acua Water Park The wet and wild world of Acua Water Park in Fuerteventura is packed with attractions of all heights, widths and shapes, from white-knuckle rides to gentle slides. This is a park where you can go from a thrilling adrenalin rush to the peaceful quiet of the lush landscaped gardens in a matter of moments. At one of the most exciting water parks in the Canary Islands, you’ll be able to try exhilarating rides such as the Black Hole, the Zig-Zags, the Splash Race and Mini-Kamikaze, and other more relaxing attractions, including the Lazy River and Big Jacuzzi. There are eight water slides, including the Kamikaze for the more daring. There’s also a sensational wave pool and children’s slides and castle as well as mini-golf to keep the little (and big) ones entertained while you lie down in the sun and relax. Oasis Park Oasis Park, located in La Lajita in the south of Fuerteventura, is a spectacular open nature reserve and park with over 800,000m² of landscaped gardens, a real oasis in the heart of the arid island of Fuerteventura. Come and discover over 7000 plant species from all over the world as you stroll around these lush and colourful gardens, with their hidden nooks, shady corners and rest areas. The Botanical Gardens house one of the largest collections of cacti and tropical plants in Europe, with over 2300 different species. Then enjoy the antics of our sea lions in our spectacular amphitheatre. The parrot show is another high point of the entertainment at Oasis Park; you’re bound to be enchanted by the colour, beauty and intelligence of these exotic birds. Then get for an amazing, educational show combining the skill, speed and elegance of birds of prey. You’ll be thrilled by the spectacular flight of eagles, owls and falcons. Your children are going to just love the kiddy farm where they can come up close to cuddly rabbits, cute chickens, patient donkeys, elegant swans and even a family of turkeys. The best of all are our three friendly ponies, Jony, Rebujito and Tiritona who will take your kids for a ride around the farm. So much excitement is bound to give you a healthy patient appetite and you’ll be spoilt for choice buy the wide range of food available at the park, ranging from the traditional cuisine of the Canary Islands to fast food and snacks. Volcano Express - Day trip to Lanzarote If you are passing through Fuerteventura, then you shouldn’t miss this opportunity to visit Lanzarote and its incredible volcanic landscapes. We will leave the port of Corralejo aboard the Princess Yaiza, heading for the fishing port and resort of Playa Blanca in Lanzarote where your guided tour of the neighbouring island’s amazing lava fields will begin. We head to La Geria, the fascinating vineyards to show you the unique way of growing vines on volcanic soil and to taste a delicious local wine. At the Timanfaya National Park you will feel the intense underground heat just metres beneath your feet, see with your own eyes how water poured onto the earth turns into a steaming geyser and bushes bursting into flames. Then you will cross this awe-inspiring landscape seemingly from another planet, studded with a spectacular series of volcanoes. Next we will continue along the coast, heading for the remote village of El Golfo, where you can admire a green lagoon hidden within a volcanic crater. Then at Los Hervideros, you can admire the waves breaking into a series of tunnels and caves formed millennia ago by streams of cooling lava. On the way back southwards will pass the salt pans at Las Salinas before boarding the boat for the trip back to Fuerteventura. We will arrive back at Corralejo at around 16:20 where you bus will be waiting for you. An un-misable opportunity to discover the Mountains of Fire of Lanzarote!

3 Island Cruise Description Spend half a day sailing in our glass bottom boat. Discover the beautiful coastline around three islands: Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Lobos. Do some snorkelling, enjoy a traditional lunch on board and admire the views of the seabed through the boat's glass bottom before exploring the island nature reserve of Lobos. During summer, we cross the straits to Playa de Papagayo, where you can enjoy the sun, swim, snorkel (equipment provided) before tucking into a traditional lunch consisting of fried fish, tiny Canarian potatoes, a salad and fresh fruit as well as a drink served on board. If you join the tour during winter, instead we head to the picturesque port of Playa Blanca, where you can disembark and explore this unspoilt resort on the southern tip of the island or go shopping. Now we'll head for the island of Lobos as you enjoy the underwater landscapes through the boats glass bottom with 16 viewing windows. You'll see all sorts of fish and if you're lucky you may even spot some dolphins. We'll land on Lobos if the weather permits and you can explore this unspoiled nature reserve on foot, or maybe you just feel like relaxing on the beach before we return to Corralejo.

Music Hall Tavern Join us for the funniest night out of your holiday! This award winning comedy drag show filled with glitz and glamour, it´s fun all the way! There is no strong language, so it´s fine for the kids. If you choose the option general admission with dinner, you will have a 3 course dinner with wine, sangria or soft drinks is served, then it´s time to sit back and relax while the talented cast take to the stage. As the sun goes down, the sequins come out for an evening of entertainment with hilarious comedy sketches and performances from all of your favourite shows. Duration: 4 hours. Start time: At 7.30pm. Surfing waves in Corralejo Fuerteventura is one of the world's top surfing destinations and it's a great place to learn this fun, exciting sport. You won't need much equipment and the surf is always up somewhere around this beautiful island. You can choose from several different courses, all taught by our friendly team of expert instructors. The courses are aimed at all ages and abilities so you're sure to find exactly what you're looking for. You'll be taken to a fantastic beach in the north of the island where you'll meet our friendly team of qualified instructors. After a warm up you'll receive a safety briefing with information on the lesson plan, hazards and dangers as well as the different signals and commands employed by the instructors. Learn how to enter the water safely and ride the waves into the shore from waist depth as you lie down on the board. Then try a drop knee position before you learn to stand upright and ride the waves like a pro. Several different courses are available. On the one day four hour course you will make your first contact with the surf, learning to ride white-water waves and paddling techniques. On the three day twelve hour course learn duck-diving, standing techniques and wave safety. Then on the five day twenty hour course learn all about white-water and green waves and how to spot the best places for surfing.

Scuba diving The waters around Fuerteventura are positively teeming with life from the tiniest fish to some of the largest mammals in the world. You can book a half day excursion which is an ideal introduction to scuba diving under the supervision of qualified PADMI and CMAS instructors. You'll dive in a natural shallow pool off a reef with amazing underwater rock formations and a vast array of marine life from seahorses to angel sharks. After arriving at the diving point just outside Corralejo, you'll be kitted out with a wetsuits, flippers and diving gear. Your friendly instructors will take you though the theory fist. You'll learn how the breathing apparatus works and how to communicate underwater. The next step is to practice what you've learned in a shallow natural pool. The instructors will be close by at all times as you get used to the equipment. You can take things at your own pace and should you need to go over anything for a second time they will be more than pleased to help you. The diving point itself is situated in a shallow pool off a reef with fascinating rock formations. The area is teeming with marine life, you're sure to see blue-fin damsel fish, parrot fish and wrasse and if you're lucky you may even catch sight of a ray or a gentle angel shark. A brilliant opportunity if you’ve always wanted to give scuba-diving a go.
