Mykonos Attractions and things to do in Mykonos

Mykonos is an upmarket Greek island that is a sophisticated, fashionable favourite destination particularly for the gay travellers, and probably because of its popularity it has become reputedly the most expensive of all the islands. Its designer shops, colourful tavernas and throbbing dance clubs are doing a roaring trade, but despite the trendy crowds and a couple of well-attended nudist beaches, the island retains its traditional flavour while its trademark five thatched windmills turn slowly on the hill. Tourists to Mykonos who would like to do some serious sightseeing can visit the archaeological museum on the island, which displays some finds from the necropolis on nearby Rhenia. It is also possible to take a trip across to the uninhabited island of Delos (just six nautical miles away), which is an important World Heritage archaeological site, having been the religious and political center of the Aegean in ancient times. Explore the temples and the Avenue of the Lions, and see some stunning archaic sculptures in the museum.

There is plenty to see and do whilst in Mykonos and we have listed a few ideas below. Several of these attractions can be booked at discounted rates to our customers who use our Flight & Hotel search option. If you're only booking the hotel with us then most attractions can be booked from your hotel or via a local agency but the cost may be higher

Paradise Cruise Cruise to Paradise Beach, one of the hip and happening places on Mykonos. Think crystal clear waters, sandy beaches and blue skies - utter bliss! Late in the afternoon, things start to heat up, with impromptu entertainment and plenty of seaside bars, and people watching to keep you propped upright on your sunbed! Being on an Island you’ll find several cruises available but do remember to take your swim wear and suntan lotion as there’s very little shade on the boat.

Horse-riding in Mykonos Ride with wind, experience freedom. A lovely way to discover the Mykonian countryside. A horse ride starting from the stables in Ano Mera following a lake trail and water reservoir leading to Fokos beach and back to the stables. Alternatively there are different options including a 1 or 2 hrs stop to the secluded beach of Fokos where you can swim in beautifully crystal clear waters and sunbathe at the unique beach. Instead, if you prefer, you can have lunch at the seaside tavern (lunch not inclusive). If you are an experience rider you will have the opportunity to reach places on the island that no other way could see. Start/opening time: At 9am. End/closing time: At 6pm.

Scuba diving experience The Discover Scuba Diving Experience is great for those who have always wondered what it would be like to breathe under water. When you discover scuba diving, you discover excitement and adventure – freedom and serenity. Nothing compares to the “weightless” exhilaration of breathing underwater. Only a diver knows the feeling! A beginner’s two hours mini course. As part of the Discover Scuba program, and under the guidance of a PADI professional. New divers learn basic safety concepts, put on equipment and swim around underwater in a closely supervised environment. To participate in the Discover Scuba Diving experience, you must be at least 10 years old and complete the Discover Scuba Statement (which includes a medical questionnaire). If you would like to continue your fun part of diving, then Discover Scuba Diving II (DSD II) is made for you. This part includes another dive from the boat, to a different dive spot. The biggest challenge instructors have with the Discover Scuba Diving program (DSD II) is not coaxing participants into the water, but coaxing them out when the program is over.

Mykonos South coast cruise A Full-Day-Trip with a traditional boat at the southern coast of Mykonos. Relax, enjoy the sun, watch the crystal clear seawater and see quiet beaches... We get aboard a traditional boat which takes us along the south coast towards the East. If the wind is strong south, then we are going towards the north coast. We head for the uninhabited island of Dragonissi, well known for its beautiful coastline and caves. If the weather permits we sail close to it otherwise we return to the coast of Mykonos and stop at the deserted beach of Frangias. Here we have enough time for swimming and snorkelling and we offer an ouzo, wine, juices & water together with a small snack. Next stop is Kalafatis beach where we have our lunch stop with Greek salad, tsatsiki, and main course accompanied by wine and water. After lunch there is enough time to spend on the beach. The boat leaves for the next beach of Paradise. Here we have time for a coffee break another swim and there is also a station for water sports. Then we head back towards the beach of Ornos by 18.00, in the evening sun after a day full of activities and beautiful impressions. The One Day Cruise – Sun and fun for everyone.

Water sports in Kalafatis Beach Enjoy water sport activities in Kalafat. Kalafatis Beach is one of the biggest not crowed beaches on the island ideal for water sports. Sun beds and umbrellas are available for rent, though there is plenty of space on the right to lay your towel. On the sand there is a beach volley court, a lifeguard on duty and a water sports area. Jet Ski, Water Ski, Wake board, Tubes, Banana Ride are all there to raise your sensations and enhance you active spirit! Windsurfing in Kalafatis beach. This beautiful location offers you an amazing array of possibilities within the Mediterranean of dazzling turquoise and azure. In the school area, protected from the wind by the hills, beginners can get first windsurf experiences and push their level within our well known schooling system. Intermediates and experts can share their skills, or just go for a ride in flat to choppy waters, or even perform some air tricks in the small waves before the Fishermen’s Village. Let Mykonos be your summertime destination and let us welcome you to Kalafatis to go for a ride.
