How to find the best Halkidiki holiday for you.
We have designed our multi use search box to help you find your ideal Halkidiki holiday or Halkidiki hotel. Follow the guide below but if you can’t find what you are looking for do give us a call on 01529 278 117 or use our “Enquiry Form”.
Flight & Hotel Search : This is usually the best search to use as it offers greater flexibility. You decide where to fly from, how many nights, what board level, which room type, etc.
Package Holiday Search : Some hotels are only available as a conventional package holiday from the likes of Thomas Cook, etc. Ensure that the +/- 3 nights is set as some smaller airports only offer weekly flights. Even if you have found a good price from our Flight & Hotel search, we always advise clients to check both types as sometimes they can be cheaper.
Hotel Only Search : This is easy to understand if you are booking your flight yourselves. We also offer cheap resort transfers if required.
Waterslides Search : This will return hotels that have a FREE water slide or water park as part of the hotel complex. This can save you a lot of money on entrance fees to public Water & Aqua Parks. Please remember to select the “Waterslides” radio button EVERY time you run a search. Not every resort offers hotels with waterslides so do check out our Water Parks page.
Couples Search : This is for adults who don’t want to holiday with children and are seeking a more romantic, relaxed and pampered type of holiday with likeminded adults. Please remember to select the “Couples” radio button EVERY time you run a search. Not every resort offers adults only holidays so do check out our page on Holidays for Couples.
What to do in Halkidiki.
Halkidiki offers a wide choice of interesting places to visit if you ever get bored with the beach life. Below are just a few places to visit and many hotels can arrange coach trips to see them all?
Petralona Cave is a major tourist attraction of the Halkidiki peninsula south of Thessaloniki. And it is a famous bone cave, especially for human remains which date back to 600,000 years ago. The cave itself isn't in most tourist eyes worth a visit but the museum makes up for it and offers an insight in to cave living humans and animals. Petralona cave is located near Nea Moudania, at 300 meters above sea-level on the west foot of Mt. Katsika in Halkidiki, Macedonia.
Mount Athos is open to men only and you would require a letter of recommendation from the Greek Embassy or Consulate before being allowed to set foot on this “Holy Mountain". For these reasons we won't waste any more time telling you what most people are forbidden to see but we mention it as it’s one of the most photographed places in Halkidiki.
The regions capital Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece. It was founded by King Kassandra of Macedon and named after his wife Thessalonike, who was a half-sister of Alexander the Great. The city is home to many museums, such as the Byzantine Museum, housed in the White Tower, the Macedonia-Thrace Folklore and Ethnological Museum, the Cinema Museum and the Railway Museum, to mention but a few. As with a cities there are some top named stores and markets to keep shopaholics happy. However, one of the main tourist areas in the city is the waterfront where tourist can mingle with the locals and drink tea or coffee or even something stronger in the host of cafes and bars.
