Antalya Facts

The city of Antalya is significant as a centre of history on the south coast of the country, and this fabulous metropolis, which is said to have housed the Gods and Goddesses, now displays all its wonders to visitors from around the world.. The ambience of the region is classic Mediterranean - hot and dry in summer and pleasant in winter.

Vaccinations and health

There are no vaccination requirements, although a typhoid vaccine is recommended for all travellers. Medical facilities and the standard of health care are not high in state hospitals and private health insurance is recommended. We advise that you always check with your local GP regarding to vaccinations. Do not leave it to the last minute. Some vaccinations can take a length of time to start working properly. Allow at the latest 8 weeks before departing.

Climate

Turkey – Antalya has a Mediterranean climate. The temperature barely goes below 20c during the summer months. Antalya does have a rainy season which is normally between November and February. See below for a more detailed monthly climate for Antalya region.

Getting to Antalya

There several airports within the UK that fly to Antalya.

Antalya region Transport

Taxis are the best way to get round. For the main tourist hotspot's, taxi drivers have a fixed rate and your journey is not metered. These rates can often be found at your hotel reception. There is also a bus service in the main tourist areas which is very cheap albeit the journey time can vary. If you want to travel cheaply and don’t mind mixing with the locals then use the dolmus is a perfectly legitimate and efficient mode of transportation and the rates are cheaper than buses. If you are staying in Antalya then the trams are a great way to get around the city. You can also hire a car and there have been recent improvements to the road network. To hire a car you need to be over 25 years of age, been driving longer than 2 years and hold a full license.
