Costa del Sol Facts File
The Costa del Sol stretches for over 100 miles along the Mediterranean coast of Andalucia - the southern most province of Spain. The area has over 20 fine sandy beaches and several holiday resorts including Marbella and Torremolinos. With an average sea water temperature of 64ºF (18ºC) the Costa del Sol can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Vaccinations and health
There are no certificates required for vaccinations. UK tourists should take a European Health Insurance Card to avail themselves of free health checks at State hospitals in case of emergency. An all-inclusive Health Insurance is recommended. We advise that you always check with your local GP regarding to vaccinations. Do not leave it to the last minute. Some vaccinations can take a length of time to start working properly. Allow at the latest 8 weeks before departing.

The currency in Costa del Sol is the Euro. Credit cards and travellers cheques are accepted at most establishments. ATMs, which are found almost everywhere, are generally the easiest and most economical way of obtaining money. Though money can be exchanged at bureaux de change and major hotels, it is advised to get them exchanged at banks, as they offer the best rates.

Local time is GMT +1 hour. During summer (between the last Sunday in March and the Saturday before the last Sunday in October), local time is GMT +2 hour.
The official language is Spanish, but English is widely understood in main tourist areas.
Visa and passport
Currently British holiday makers do not require a visa but it is always worth checking as rules can change. You must have a passport with at least 6 months validity.
Getting to Costa del Sol
There are flights from many of UK’’s regional and International airports to Costa del Sol. Smaller UK airport may only offer weekly flights so do set the “Give or Take” box (in the search box) to plus or minus 3 days as this will then give you better results. Flights are available throughout the year.
